Saturday October 30

Today we leave for Florida. I'm tired but excited. It has been a long week as I got sick. Thankfully I was able to get medicine and feel much better. It made getting ready for the trip difficult. We left Wendover at 12:45 PM. The drive was great with the students asking about the trip, studying, or drawing pictures of me...good for a laugh. I'm proud of the students for working so hard for the trip.

Our flight was delayed by weather. This made us nervous as we only had 20 minute layover. Luckily for us they held our plane. I had an enjoyable flight. I sat next to Stephanie Donald. She had been selected to be the first journalist in space. She had trained with the Challenger crew and was to be on the next launch. Sadly the Challenger exploded and the program was dropped so she never had the chance to fly. I loved hearing her stories about the NASA program. I learned a lot. She agreed to come to the Kennedy Space Center with us, throw a barbaque, and let the girls swim in her pool. I'm very excited!!! I love to learn.

When we got to Florida, we learned about security issues. We could not get our luggage as the police had been called in for security. 1.5 hours later we got our luggage and passed a yellow taped off area with pictures being taken of a bag. I was very glad to crawl into my bed at 3:00 AM.
